Training Course Terms and Conditions
Our Swiftwater Rescue Technician (SRT-1), Advanced Swiftwater Rescue Technician (SRT-2), Technical Rope rescue (TRR), and Rescue Boat Handing (RBH) and Backcountry Avalanche Awareness (BAAC) courses provide participants with the fundamentals of survival and rescue techniques in each respective situation.
During these courses participants will be learning skills in the outdoors. As you will be entering the river, remote areas, hazardous situations. Such as there are various risks involved with this type of training.
PLEASE READ: By applying to particpate in these course(s) I understand, acknowledge all risks and agree to be bound by the terms and conditions outlined below?
NOTE:
- All courses are ONLY run if minimum participant numbers are reached prior to the course application deadline.
- Your course booking application is only confirmed once we have received into our bank account your course fees and this has been confirmed by our accounting staff, or a receipt has been issued to you by NOASC/Rescue 3 Japan. If course is not run, particpant's course monies will be refunded, minus any transfer fee/bank fee that may be incurred.
- Payments: Please contact NOASC for payment details. All transfer/bank fees, other charges, are born by the participant. The exact course fee amount must be deposited into our account.
- Cancellations: 21-14 days or 13-8 days prior to course date, 30% of total course fee , 7-2 days before course 40%, day before course 50%, on the day of the course or no show 100% cancellation fee will be incurred.

- Course Meeting Times: Normally your course will start at 8am.
- Complimentary pick-up service: Please contact NOASC if you need a pick-up service from your Niseko accommodation.
- Accredited Courses: Swiftwater Rescue Technician (SRT-1) & the Advance course (SRT-2), Technical Rope Rescue (TRR) are Rescue 3 International Accredited courses.
1 ) On all river based courses (SRT-1, SRT-2 and RBH-1):
Minimum Skill level of Participant: must be able to swim competently with a PFD on.
Minimum Age: Must be healthy and over the age of 18 years of age. For private courses this age requirement can be waviered with written consent by parent/guardian being provided.
Wavier/release/Idemnity: A liability waiver is a legal document will be required to sign to acknowledge the risks involved in your participation. You will be required to read, understand and sign this form prior to your participation, at the start of this course.
Course application deadline: normally 2-3 weeks before, or the maximum participant number is reached, which ever comes first. Please check the application closing date on course advertisment.
2) On land based courses (TRR)
Minimum Skill level of Participant: Rescue enthusiast who wishes commence learning about technical rescue methods using rope and rope systems.
Minimum Age: Must be healthy and over the age of 13 years of age. For persons under the Japanese legal age of 20 years, a parent/guardian will be required to sign the wavier/release/Idemnity Registration form and also particapte on the course.
Wavier/release/Idemnity: A liability waiver is a legal document will be required to sign to acknowledge the risks involved in your participation. You will be required to read, understand and sign this form prior to your participation, at the start of this course.
Course application deadline: normally 2-3 weeks before, or the maximum participant number is reached, which ever comes first. Please check the application closing date on course advertisment.
3) For our Backcountry Avalanche Awareness Course (BAAC):
Minimum Skill level of Participant: winter enthusiast who wishes to venture into the backcountry while snow is on the ground. Must be of an intermediate skier/snowboarder level or above, able to ski off-piste runs/powder competently.
Minimum Age: Must be healthy and over the age of 13 years of age. For persons under the Japanese legal age of 20 years, a parent/guardian will be required to sign the wavier/release/Idemnity Registration form and also particapte on the course.
Wavier/release/Idemnity: A liability waiver is a legal document will be required to sign to acknowledge the risks involved in your participation. You will be required to read, understand and sign this form prior to your participation, at the start of this course.
Course application deadline: 1 week before, or the maximum participant number is reached, which ever comes first. Please check the application closing date on course advertisment.

What to Bring On Your Course
Our Swiftwater Rescue Technician (SRT1), Advanced Swiftwater Rescue Technician (SRT-2), Technical Rope rescue (TRR), and Rescue Boat Handing (RBH) and Backcountry Avalanche Awareness (BAAC)courses provides participants with the fundamentals of survival and rescue techniques in each respective situation.
During these courses participants will be learning skills in the outdoors. As you will be entering the river, remote areas, hazardous situations you will need to bring the following items.
What to bring with you on your course?
Please bring with you a cup for refreshments, notebook and pens for taking notes, and
On all river based courses (SRT-1, SRT-2 and RBH-1):
please also bring a river knife, appropriate river wear (drysuit, or wetsuit and footwear) for the season, waist attachable throwbag/rescue rope, appropriate river cap/socks/neoprene gloves for autumn and spring courses, appropriate PFD (Life jacket), whistle (recommended FOX 40 type), River helmet(no fireman helmets, etc.), waterproof bag to store your gear in when at the river, and snacks/thermos for energy replacement/hydration at the river.
On land based courses (TRR)
please bring with you a helmet, whistle, harness (rental harness' available), leather gloves for handling ropes, wind/rain wear for bad weather conditions, and individual refreshments/snacks.
For our backcountry avalanche awareness course (BAAC):
note taking materials and appropriate backcountry winter equipment: avalanche beacon, probe, shovel, snow saw or similar tool, backpack, helmet, snowshoes or split board for snowboarders, or skis (including seals and appropriate binding system) for hiking up and snacks/thermos for energy replacement/hydration at the mountain. As we will be hiking up it is recommended that you bring an appropraite ski/snowboard wear giving a layering system where layers can be shed if so desired to avoid sweating/dehydration and/or worn again to help prevent problems with hypothermia. Spare goggles, gloves, neck warmers, etc., should be considered based on the season and your individual needs.
Lite snacks, coffee, tea with be provided in the classroom. You will be required to bring you own drinks/snacks when at the river and/or in the field.

Lake/Sulphur Mountain Hiking
Lake/Sulphur Mountain Hiking Course
This tour incorporates an approximate 6 hour (one day) hike of Mt
Iwaonupuri and nearby lakes. Along the way you we be able to view
beautifull lake, mountain and coastline scenery. On a clear day you also will be
able to sea both the west and east coastlines on Southern
Hokkaido. This is a medium level (3rd level) hiking tour requiring
average to above average fitness.
