It was a great day to head to Mt Yotei with not a cloud in the sky.

With new snowfalls lacking over the last couple of days and the great weather, the snowpack had compacked making the hike up easier and quicker than normal.

After a 4 hour hike to the summit, we were tempted to board into the crater, but with an approaching turn in the weather we decided to had down.

The first 500m of wind blown crust made the desired GS turns hard to come by, but the sun affected slopes were more forgiving. The surprise of the day was some ankle deep powder below tree line on the sheltered slopes.

Our clients had a great time on our Halfmoon lake "Hangetsuko" snowshoe tour on the 18th.

After walking, sliding, jumping their way down to the frozen lake everyone took time to explore and enjoy the occassion with a lite snack then it was back up out of the crater lake, through the forest back to our starting point.

Without several days without good snowfalls the Rusutsu trees lived up to there name...snow!

Our client's yesterday on our Rusutsu Sidecountry tour. They enjoyed some of the best conditions found over the last several days. After a 40 minute drive from Niseko, everyone was rewarded with first tracks down the trees on Mt Isola.  Contact NOASC for information on our backcountry tours.

A great powder photo of one of our clients enjoying the Niseko Powder on a NOASC Backcountry Tour.
